Services include holistic primary care consults, women's wellness (including gynecological exams), and acupuncture. People frequently see me for fatigue, thyroid disease, women's hormones, weight loss, diabetes, hypertension, food allergies, Lyme disease, etc.

Herbs, nutrition, energetic therapies including homeopathy, Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, life coaching, essential oils and meditative practices may be woven into your treatment plan.

You can expect attentive care with longer appointments, electronic medical records, online appointment scheduling and more.

Read below for more specific information on consultations, available testing and supplements, and practice philosophy.
The initial appointment is approximately 1.5 hours and $325. Follow-up is $150 and usually lasts 1 hour. Phone consults (charged if conversation is 10 minutes or more) are $2/min. I encourage you to "shop around" -- these are very reasonable rates, especially considering the time and energy given during and outside of the appointment as well as operating costs and the universally escalating cost of malpractice. Moreover, your time, money and energy are investments in your health and well being.

Acupuncture sessions are $120 for new patients and $85 for returning or established patients. The first appointment is 1.5 - 2 hours, follow up treatments run 1-2 hours.

I encourage you to find the physician that is right for you. I am happy to meet with you for 10 minutes so you can learn more about my practice prior to becoming a patient (no charge of course).
We have a fully stocked in-house apothecary with vitamins, herbs (including TCM formulas), and homeopathics.

In addition to ordering conventional labs through your insurance company (usually Quest or Labcorp), we also offer many alternative laboratory evaluations. Testing available includes digestive studies, food sensitivities, antioxidant and nutritional deficiencies and evaluation, hormones, heavy metals, etc.

♦ Dr. Rabenhorst honored with a Patients' Choice award! ♦

I am a self-declared lifelong learner. While in pursuit of a career as a healer, I studied biochemistry at the University of Maryland at Baltimore County. I find I am using this foundation now more than ever at the cutting edge that is Complementary Alternative Medicine.

After graduating from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, I completed my formal training at the prestigious Georgetown University/Providence Hospital Family Practice Residency Program for three more years. During this time, I continued to pursue Complementary Alternative Medicine studies, both through the residency and independently. I also worked actively in the community through many projects and upon graduation was honored with the yearly Community Medicine Award.  Most recently, I graduated from Tai Sophia with my Masters in Acupuncture.  This stage in my learning has been particularly rewarding, helping me bring awareness to the importance of presence:  being versus doing.

I look forward to my interactions with clients. I love what I do, and I recognize I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve. In concordance with the origin of the word physician, I believe part of my service to clients is to impart what I know so they can make an educated decision about the care of their own body, mind and spirit. In the journey of this holistic therapeutic relationship, I focus on empowering patients to lead their fullest life, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Areas of interest include nutrition, acupuncture, herbs, energy medicine, coaching and more.

Meanwhile, I plan to continue my lifelong learning with further study of the millennia-old tradition of acupuncture, as well as integrative medicine conferences.  I stay abreast of the latest developments through various postgraduate courses and seminars. I also continue to be an active member in the International College for Integrative Medicine, the American College for Advancement in Medicine, the Institute for Functional Medicine, the Weston A. Price Foundation, the American Association for Health Freedom and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

My life outside of medicine is dedicated to my husband, my family and friends, our husky-shepard Tara, gardening, photography and leisure reading.

My Philosophy is really captured by one word, namaste:
“I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you which is
of Love, of Truth, of Light, and of Peace.
When you are in that place in you
and I am in that place in me,
We are One.”

In addition to a strong spiritual foundation that strengthens my integrity, my philosophy is focused on holistic healing. I also feel it is important to ascertain the cause of symptoms. This means it is important to not just cover up the symptom, but to also ask what the symptom means. Often, there are layers to our relationship with our symptoms. There is a "Fix it" attitude and then there is an investigative relationship. The symptom might have meaning and be a source of insight on a mind, body and/or spirit level, and at the same time we are suffering. This interplay is, I think, part of the art of medicine.

Health is not an endpoint; healing is a lifelong journey. I believe health mirrors life in that we are not meant to feel perfect all the time, just as life is often not how we want it. However, there are times of feeling wonderful, and my service is to help you understand your body and guide you in caring for yourself so these times are optimized.

This journey is a healing partnership.  Click on this link to read more much more about my philosophy.
